Description
Overview
Finesse EC is a high-specification resilient floor covering manufactured for areas where static control is essential. It functions as a conductive system with an electrical resistance to earth between 104 and 106 ohms. The flooring features a non-directional design, ensuring it meets aesthetic requirements without compromising its technical function.
This product belongs to the Polysales Electrostatic Conductive (EC) category. It is specifically engineered to eliminate the risk of electrostatic discharge (ESD) in environments such as cleanrooms, healthcare facilities, and electronics manufacturing zones.
Key Benefits
- Reliable Static Control: Provides consistent electrostatic conductivity (104 – 106 ohms) to protect sensitive electronic components and medical equipment.
- Hygiene & Safety: Features a closed surface that does not favour bacterial growth and is suitable for cleanrooms (ISO Class 4).
- Durability: Homogeneous construction offers excellent resistance to abrasion (Group P) and chemicals.
- Maintenance Efficiency: Non-directional design and impervious surface allow for effective cleaning and decontamination.
- Indoor Air Quality: Certified Indoor Air Comfort Gold for low VOC emissions.
Typical Applications
Finesse EC is suitable for environments where the control of static electricity is critical for safety or operational integrity.
- Healthcare: MRI suites, operating theatres, and equipment sterilisation zones.
- Electronics: Semiconductor fabrication and electronic component assembly.
- Industrial: Robotics, automation zones, and aerospace component manufacturing.
- Controlled Environments: Cleanrooms and laboratories.
Product Specifications
Cleaning & Maintenance
- Chemical Resistance: Good resistance to dilute acids, soaps, and detergents.
- Disinfection: Compatible with most commonly used alco-based hand gels and suitable for periodic steam cleaning.
- Regime: Regular light maintenance is recommended over periodic heavy maintenance. The floor should be swept and mopped with neutral or alkaline cleansers depending on soiling.

FAQs
Q: What is the difference between Finesse EC and Finesse SD?
A: Finesse EC is Electrostatic Conductive with a resistance of 104–106 ohms, allowing for rapid discharge. Finesse SD is Static Dissipative (1.0 x 106 – 1.0 x 109 ohms), which drains charge more slowly.
Q: Does Finesse EC require an earthing grid?
A: Yes. Finesse EC requires a conductive grid connected to a known earth point. The strips should be laid to form 600mm square grid across the floor, the perimeter strips being 150mm from the wall.
Q: Can Finesse EC be used in cleanrooms?
A: Yes. Finesse EC is ISO Class 4 certified for cleanrooms and does not favour bacterial growth.
Q: Is a conductive adhesive required?
A: Yes. To ensure the conductive properties function correctly, the flooring must be adhered using a Polysales-approved conductive adhesive.
Q: Is the visual directional?
A: No. Finesse EC features a non-directional design, which assists with installation efficiency and creates a seamless appearance.
